Would you believe that this year is the first time I have ever been to a spa? Before that, I didn’t get it. I thought for me to go would be a waste of money and a bit boring. I guess I couldn’t visualise how nice it is to outsource your relaxation to someone else, even though I regularly get massages. My first experience was at Ballarat Sanctuary Day spa. I have gone back regularly since for various relaxation services and I’d now call it one of my favourite places in Ballarat. I could easily refer to it as my sanctuary.
I had massages their with full body coffee scrub. I’ve been for a midweek wellness session which is where you soak for an hour in their amazing spa then choose between a facial or a massage. I have had a twin massage in the massage room. I’ve soaked with a friend in the twin baths. My two favourite things are:
– Midweek wellness: soak in the spa or sauna followed by your choice of massage or facial for about $80
– Twin tub room (pictured below): soak for as long as you like in the room with two baths with you and a friend for $80 ($40 each)
I’m a really busy person. I’m constantly juggling a thousand thoughts, priorities and tasks so if I book myself in here it’s a brilliant way of making sure I don’t have the responsibility to think about anything. I can be present and mindful and completely enjoy the experience of resting and loving my body.
These are some photos from my many visits including a most recent trip with the whole squad to celebrate the fact that the sanctuary now open on Sundays. Photos have been taken by me unless I’m in them and then I had assistance from my sister Goldfields Girl.
Check out my sanctuary on their website here.
