A seasonal tradition orchestrated by my sister and I is a dinner on the beautiful Lake Wendouree. In order for this dinner to adventure to be right, we have parameters to guide the preparations.
The feel is important. This isn’t a picnic. So we have real crockery, real cutlery and real glassware. We take a real table out onto the pier and we set it with real French cafe chairs. Luckily I have a car that can transport all of these things. We drape the table with long beautiful table cloths so we can hide any boxes or cool boxes underneath. We light candles (in enclosed containers) to keep things pretty.
The food also sets the scene. Previously we did bagels and dessert. Hot food always makes a big difference as having hot food in a house is normal. Hot food outdoors at a pop-up feels real fancy. Previously we had bagels. For this night, we had salad and meat as well as Il Piccolo gelato for dessert. Good weather makes any night special as does good company. If you want to see our previous lake dinner, check it out here.
