One favourite spot I have wanted to do a blog post at, but have put off for so long, is Mitchell Harris. This is my default drinks and date venue and I also come to a networking event here once per month. It’s a wine bar, with a cosy atmosphere, great food and wonderful staff. I’ve finally brought it to the blog!

While I usually spend my time at MH drinking their Fumé, on this particular visit I was with my sister, who is breastfeeding. We had be planning on shooting in a totally different location, but it was raining, we were cold and I knew MH had a wood fire. Because Goldfields Girl is breastfeeding, we decided to have something non-alcoholic.

Now, when you think about not having alcohol, it’s easy to have tea, coffee, or a ginger ale. That feels kind of underwhelming when you’re sitting in a place like MH, which you go to for the fun of what you can drink. So instead of getting lemonade, we asked the team about a non-alcoholic cocktail. They threw us together a refreshing drink of lime, muddled with sugar and mint, and then mixed with ginger ale. It was thirst quenching and wonderful and I so wish it was on the menu.

When we went to The Ritz in London for drinks, we were really surprised and excited about their non-alcoholic cocktail list. It was something that impressed me at the time (and the drinks we really nice), and I’ve loved the idea of them ever since. So since Goldfields Girl can’t drink at the moment, we’ve been more and more keen on drinks that are a bit of fun but without the alcohol. This MH custom mix was perfect. I thanked them for it as we left and put in a hopeful plea to have it on the menu. It was delish.

The outfit I’m wearing also throws back to that time in London with my sister. We’d been on a girls trip of Paris and London and this top and scarf combination was worn by my sister the day we went to Ladureé. I’ve been enjoying a few winter outfits that mix in these awesome boots that I bought for the Ballarat Tweed Ride.

Speaking of, if you’re after winter boots, you should really check out Zulily. Not only do they stock loads of awesome brands at clearance prices, you can search all their stock to find exactly what you’re browsing for. So for a few weeks, I would search ‘brown boots’ and then filter by my shoe size, and scroll until I saw something I might like. That’s how I found this pair! They were marked down from over $200 to under $40. I can see me wearing them until they are beyond repair.

I’d also really like some similar boots in light grey and navy. I personally find it really hard to find nice boots, so having a huge catalogue of shoes my size that I can search and scroll through made getting a pair I likes so much easier.

I would also like to note that I think this is the first time I have ever worn animal print. It’s something that’s usually totally out of my style range but I loved the colours of this scarf with the top.
