Lazy Sunny Days – Lark

I’m lucky enough to live in the home city of online store Lark! I have loved the store for years, and just this week finally got the chance to meet and adore Allison, business owner and kindred style spirit. Both of us love British vintage prints and classic style, and I’m pleased to announced that this shared love will now be a shared love between Lark and Finding Femme!

The first part of the collaboration between Lark and I, is this stunning dress and is showcasing their Lazybones Australia clothing range. As an aside, the beautiful festive bunting in these shots is from Lark as well. More about the dress, though. I first came across Lazybones on Modcloth when I purchased a stunning dress to be surprised when it arrived that it was an Australian brand. Their clothes are unlike anything else I’ve come across before. Each season has signature prints, and these prints are rolled out across signature cuts, making it easy to find a dress that suits your particular body shape in the colour you want. This dress, and the others I already own, are made from the most incredible lightweight cotton. Every Australian knows what a lightweight cotton dress means, because it gets so hot here, and breathable fabric is essential to surviving hot weather elegantly.

Because of this, I decided to take this dress out for a day to my dear friend, New Columbo scholar and economics major, Cath’s housewarming. She and her brilliant housemate Rob have been a great support for me during my study this year, and to finally have some nice weather to get out into their yard was brilliant. The event consisted of delicious dips and cheeses, gin and Pimm’s, and a self selection of records from the record player. Cath was delighted when I asked if I could take snaps at her party, so I brought loads of elderflower gin and Pimm’s to say thanks.

Something I adore about the Lazybones brand, is their size range goes from XS (8) to XXL (18). That might seem like a no brainer, but it’s so exciting to be able to wear the same clothes as friends that aren’t in the same size as me. I hate that guilty feeling of telling a mate how great a dress is, and then she can’t buy it because they don’t make it in her size.

I was so excited to have the opportunity to wear this particular cut of dress (it’s called the Olivia dress). For my figure it’s particularly flattering. I prefer something with tailored under-bust and waist, as well as covered shoulders, so I knew that it was likely this one would work well on me. I see this one as an all season dress, and can imagine it with a thick cardigan, winter tights and gumboots. This time I wanted to give it something to make it pop, so I contrasted it with mint jewellery and shoes. It would look so nice also with navy, orange or yellow. Ballarat locals, if you are interested to see what style of dress suits your figure, duck into the Lark store on Armstrong St Nth and give some styles and prints a try!
