This is a photo of me, taken by my bestie Tegan, shortly before we stopped being friends. Tegan has ditched me as a friend after everything she wanted at the Vintage Fair was in my size and I bought everything. More on the fair and why Tegan has vowed to never be my friend again at a later date. For now, let’s have an adventure at Vegas and Rose.
My current weekend wind-down routine I have is to wake up late on a Saturday, scroll through Instagram until late morning, find a picture of doughnuts so delicious I want to get out of bed and then message Tegan with ‘doughnuts?’. She’s normally in bed as late as me and we’ll meet up for breakfast and doughnuts at lunch time.
This week’s most motivating doughnut Instagram picture came from Pen at Vegas and Rose. I tagged Tegan to signal this was our Saturday munch-time destination. A doughnut date was scheduled.

Carrying on from last week’s theme of straw-boater, black bow shoes and crop top, here’s a totally new take on a similar style. This time I’ve gone for a midi length skirt (last week was knee length), a long sleeve and high neck crop, along with the same shoes and hat. Even though two of the items I’m wearing I wore last time, this outfit has a completely different feel to it. I’ve worn this skirt multiple times. You can see my previous stylings here, here, here and here.
This is super different to my other stylings. The solid black colour of the crop top really helps to make the skirt colour and pattern pop. I like that the skirt has a large print floral, too. I think the simplicity of that goes will with the clean black blocks of colour from the other things I’m wearing.
I scored this top super cheap on eBay (link later in post) and I loved it so much that I went back and bought 3 more. I know I’ll be wearing this crop all spring and it’s not the greatest quality, so I want to have a few of them to get me through a full season. It bothers me that the top is so cheap and disposable. I’m looking forward to getting more into sewing next year and hopefully I can make some seasonal coordinates like this without contributing to the highly consumable fast fashion culture.
This is my all-time favourite skirt from Modcloth. It’s a signature item of theirs that you can’t get anywhere else. It’s a statement piece and a coordinate all at once. It’s works with so many different items to give it a new look. This crop makes it look totally different to any other style I’ve done with it before. It’s such a bold and happy colour. I’ve missed wearing it all winter and I’m keen to wear it to death again this spring. It’s really good quality so it’s got barely any signs of wear even though I wear it almost endlessly from spring autumn every year. I’m challenging myself to share with you some really different styling options for it. You really, really should get yourself one (if you’re into midi skirts).
Hat: slightly modified, bought in France.
Read the ridiculous story of this hat came into my life here.
Crop top: super cheap from eBay
Skirt: must have from Modcloth
SHOCK! Modcloth have discontinued this skirt. If you want it, sign this petition to bring it back. The skirt is back!
Shoes: sold out – Modcloth
Location: Vegas and Rose

Here is the delicious food we had for lunch at Vegas and Rose. We both went for the avocado and fetta toast which was on delicious locally made bread. We both also got the peach fizz drink which is the most refreshing and delicious beverage imaginable. I’m going to be drinking it all through summer.
Tegan’s new ASOS shoes, which everyone loves. She usually wears them with unicorn socks.
I hope you have enjoyed this restyle.
