I have recently acquired a love of berets and flipped my lid at this delicious one I spotted on Etsy. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it. It’s amazing quality and was hand felted to order. They have a bunch of other beautiful designs too. You can check them out here.

I have very few memories of my great grandmother. She emigrated from England in the 1940s and I got to spend time with her for the first 8 years of my life. She died the day before my 8th birthday. I do remember that she lived on Salisbury Avenue, that she had a cottage garden with ornaments throughout, she had a wood fired stove, her kitchen table overlooked the garden and she taught me to read the term grand prix. She was a writer and a poet and has been a great inspiration to my writing life. The smell of roasting lamb and rosemary makes me think of her, as does the mug in my hand. I have strong memories of sitting at her kitchen table drinking a hot malt drink in one of these mugs. As a result, I now collect this particular type of china. It’s called Price and Kensington Cottageware and can also come as Price Bros. Cottagewear. It’s my favourite china.
