Giveaway: My Favourite Earrings

In case you hadn’t noticed, I have done a couple of blog posts now wearing a distinctive pair of earrings. I love the earrings, and the company that makes them, so I would like to share the love.

The miss matched earrings feature a camera with a speech bubble that says ‘smile’. I also have it as a matching brooch set. The earrings are laser cut in the regional Victorian (Australia) town of Buninyong and then hand painted by Michelle at Bok Bok B’Gerk. I have issues with a nickle allergy so the fact that the earrings posts and backs are made with surgical steel is excellent for me. The earrings aren’t just good for people, they are also goo for the environment. Bok Bok B’Gerk have their earrings made from the wood of the Alder Tree.

Alder wood is pretty rock n roll. Since the 1950s, Fender have been using alder to make their world renowned Startocasters, Telecasters and Jazz Bass guitars. Bok Bok B’Gerk earrings aren’t made of alder because it is cool, though (although it sorta is). Alder is known to increase the nitrogen in soil which increases the soil’s fertility. This is a great benefit to places where soil fertility is low.

So, I love these earrings so much I have decided to give a pair away.  To be in the running, just comment on this blog post by 5pm Saturday, 28 Jun (AEST). There is a limit of one entry per person. I will be drawing the winner out of a hat. Anyone can enter and Michelle assures me that Bok  Bok B’Gerk ship internationally to all countries.

UPDATE: it seems I’m not the only person that owns a pair of these earrings, so a few people are missing out on a fun competition because they either own them already, or the aren’t into vintage cameras. In light of this, I am happy to offer any pair of earring from Bok Bok B’Gerk of the same value as an alternative, and you can pick.

If you miss out on these earrings, you can buy your own here.
