I have a beautiful Lekker bike. It’s one of my favourite possessions and people always stop me to say how gorgeous it is. I normally have a basket on the front (thus the black bracket) but in order to use the LED light when days are getting so dark so quickly at the minute, I have taken the basket off.
The bike is a Lekker Double Dutch with a European stand. This means the bike sits upright and can even be sat on when the stand is down. It doesn’t lean at all. My old version of the bike has three gears and a built in locking system which comes as a complete system with chain, key and wheel lock.
My bike (Duchess) and what she is wearing:
Bike: Double Dutch – Lekker
Pannier Bags: Memories – Basil
Horn: from Papillionaire bikes
LED vintage light and mount: Lekker
Spokey Dokes: Sportsgirl (also Kmart)
The title of this post is the name of a song I have written. Tegan gave me a verbal berating earlier today because she has had it stuck in her head for days (to the point that it interrupted her sleep patterns). You too can get this irritating song stuck in your head shortly as I will be performing it at the FedUni Live – Live on Lydiard sessions next Wednesday. I will post a link as soon at the YouTube video is available.
Tegan just read this paragraph over my shoulder and said ‘I’m not coming [to the show]!’
๐
That grin is because I’m feeling the urge to start a new type of rick-rolling once the song is on YouTube. Tegan, be warned…
Hat: vintage (thanks Tegan for the loan!)
Jumper: Grey Skies Blue Mood – Alannah Hill
Shoes: Bettie Page ‘Classic Confection’ Heel – Modcloth
Belt: I can’t remember
Skirt: vintage Fletcher Jones.
Photos: Tegan Barnes
Location: Golden Point (I had to put that in because the name suits the pictures, doesn’t it?)
Every girl should have a vintage Fletcher Jones skirt in her collection. No one makes a skirt with an invisible zip like Fletcher Jones. In fact, invisible zips should be reserved for Fletcher Jones, or patented or something. No one else ever gets them to work as smoothly as they do on these skirts. I picked this one up for $5 from the old RSPCA op shop on Main Rd.
If I wear a helmet, I usually wear a Nutcase helmet with a union jack print on it. If you’re after something similar or classy (as helmets are required by law in Australia), try Nutcase or Bern for something stylish. I also recommend Yakkay, but with a disclaimer that these helmets don’t meet Australian bike helmet standards and you can get fined for wearing them. Want to browse beautiful bike things for Australian ladies? You need to check out Cycle Style, Lekker and Papillionaire. Thank me later xx.
