Welcome Spring

Today’s post will be picture heavy, so I hope you enjoy the pretty shots. I’m trying to rock my curls lately thanks to the hairdressing skills of Chelsea at Eve Salon. She’s the first hairdresser I’ve ever had that has styled my hair curly. She was so keen to try it and I was kind of indifferent so I let her do what she wanted. Her passion for my curls was super infectious and I couldn’t help but leave feeling like I was as curious about what my hair could be as she was. I’m not a hair girl. I do like my hair to be nice, it does seriously knock my confidence when it isn’t, but I’d be lying if I said I washed it more than once a week. You hear right. I don’t like washing my hair or styling it or looking after it. I intentionally have my natural colour so I don’t have to visit the hairdresser. I’m growing it. Also so I don’t have to visit the hairdresser. I have one style I like and it modifies as it gets dirtier and the curl starts to ebb back into it. If it gets too long I flip it to one side to the cowlick on my forehead can be free. Curls? Not a chance.

Curls have always seemed high maintenance to me. They take ages to get prepared. There is always a risk in how they turn out. They might be bad. They might be stringy. They might not hold. Who can say. Curls are the same level of risk as taking an afternoon nap without setting an alarm. To me, they have always felt like more work than a full face of event makeup. So I avoided. Chelsea, though, she was pumped for it. She got me on to a new product and I’m trying it out. This is my first attempt at doing them myself and I’m super proud. When I was leaving the salon, I said to her ‘I’m not really a hair girl’ and she replied ‘I’ll make you into one’, which delighted me. What an adventure!

This divine dress is the new spring season from Australia’s own, Lazybones. It has pockets. It is made of light and material and it will be joining a collection of other Lazybones staples in my wardrobe. This is a dress for intense summer heat when you want to feel like there is nothing on your skin. The irony of this was not lost on me when shooting these photos at 2 degrees Celsius on the second day of spring. I really wanted to style this dress using white blossoms and temperature doesn’t really show in photos, does it? Anyway, if you haven’t got on the of light, elegant and pocketed pieces from Lazybones in your wardrobe, I would recommend browsing their stuff and bringing one into your home. You will love it for many years to come.

Check out the dress here.
