It’s a once in a lifetime thing when your regional Australian hometown hosts forty pieces of art from the Musée de la Chartreuse.
The incredible exhibition ending this weekend at the Art Gallery of Ballarat also includes some French artists from Australian collections and from Australian artists studying during the same period as the feature works. The period of art explored in the collection is where realist styles of painting were being challenged by impressionism. The images feature a range of scenes, most importantly showing normal people doing normal things which were apparently rare in earlier styles. What I loved most about it, particularly because it always informs my photography, was the light. This is why the exhibition is called Into Light. My love and congratulations to the team at Ballarat Fine Art Gallery. Another excellent exhibition that seems to be at the place that light meets the heart. Join me for a few moments exploring the exhibition.
