The theatre company I am part of recently put on a production of Mr Bennet’s Bride, which is a prequel to Pride and Prejudice. I thought it would be a great opportunity to do a fundraiser with a Jane Austen High Tea, celebrating the growing suite of Austen-related works we have done. It was held at Craig’s Royal Hotel and I’ve already talked to Craig’s about doing the event again next year. This year we had only about 1 month to organise and promote it. Next year we will give ourselves and other Jane Austen fans plenty of time to save the date and plan an outfit.
I made my dress (with significant help from an experienced sewer) and I’ll do another post with the making process.
This is Emma, the playwright of Mr Bennet’s Bride. This was the first time we met in person. She was also part of the Pride and Prejudice Podcast I directed in 2020.
