If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you’ll probably already be aware that I am a sucker for an embroidered cardigan. I have a collection involving embroidered bunting, sailboats, polka dots, Scottie dogs, hummingbirds and flower garlands. Naturally, I fell in love with this decadently detailed cardigan from Voodoo Vixen.
If you know Voodoo Vixen, you’ll already know that their embroidered cardigans are to die for.
They come with sunflowers, cats, owls, poppies, strawberries, butterflies, anchors, daisies, hearts, seahorses, mermaids, foxes AND feathers embroidered on them.
This particular cardigan really had my heart. Something about the feathers being stitched in the same colour as the knit was so elegant and subtle that I fell in love with it. I also love the sweet little necktie at the top instead of a top button. It reminds me of the classic Dita cardigan from Wheels and Dollbaby.
When I got the cardigan, I also loved the deep red of the buttons. This is a touch morbid, but they are like perfect little drops of blood. That, like every other Voodoo Vixen item, makes me think of a complex style that is elegant, timeless, strong and ruthless. It’s beauty meets sass. It’s if Marilyn Monroe was an assassin.
Something else I love about their cardigans is that they aren’t pretty on one side. There are two perfect feathers on the front and a whole feature on the back.
The quality of the knit is really nice as well, and that makes it super comfortable to wear. It’s one of those cardigans you can wear without a top underneath it too. I have very few cardigans I like to wear on their own, but this is so nice it is one of them.
