I’ve just had my last ever day of work for the year. It’s been one heck of a stressful year for me so I decided to take some extra leave and take time off work. For my first day of holidays, I hung out with some of my favourite people in the whole world and wound down ready for the break with a trip to the beach and some pampering using some home spa products I got from The Body Shop.
11.00am
After a breakfast meeting for my blog and a cuppa with a very cool businesswoman, I ducked home to get changed for the beach. I grew up spending huge amounts of time at the beach with my grandparents and the sound of the ocean is one of my favourite things. I sat in the back of the car with my nephew who fell asleep about 20 minutes into the journey.
12.30pm
We arrive at Point Lonsdale and I scope out good places to eat and drink on Zomato. My favourite choice wasn’t exactly a family venue so we settled for another. After sitting down and ordering drinks I discovered that the only things on the menu without coriander were pancakes or granola. I hate coriander. I order corn fritters and ask them to hold the coriander salad. This was a terrible choice. It turned out that the main thing holding the patties together was coriander. After soldiering through at least one of them, I started to feel ill and wandered off to the IGA to get some panadol and a drink. We then got ice cream to rid my soul of the taste of the devil herb. All the while my sister and my mother loudly proclaiming their love for coriander. Freaks.
1.30pm
We watch my nephew waddle around like a drunk old man and listen to the thunderous sound of the waves crashing against the stone wall around the beach. Then we head up to the lighthouse.
2.00pm
We get to the pier and there’s a small sign telling us that blue bottle jellyfish (a clear relative of coriander) have been spotted in the area so to approach the water with care. I get my feet a little wet, but we don’t go into the water any more than that.
3.00pm
We are driving home and stop in Meredith for snacks. We chat with locals about how quickly fire season has come around this year.
4.00pm
Time for a chill out in the back garden while nephew takes a nap and to bring out the body moisturiser and lemongrass massage oil. After a brief dip in the water at the beach, it was a nice follow up to have seaweed skin care products. The moisturiser came with this body paint brush, which feels really soft to brush the skin. I’m not going to lie, this made me feel like I was doing my own home spa treatment. I’ve never actually been to a spa treatment, but after this day I’m now feeling really keen to give it a go. Actually putting aside time to relax is really important and definitely helped me relax into the holidays. I can only imagine how awesome it would be to have someone else pamper you. I’ll add a spa treatment to my new year resolutions. I also gave my hands and feet a massage with the lemongrass massage oil. At which point, I felt bad reading a new Collective magazine because I didn’t want to get massage oil all over it. So I read an old copy.
